We are very happy with the finished product as the heater performs beautifully. It is the centerpiece of our home and will provide us a place to gather around on cool days for years to come. The radiant heat can be felt for up to 24hrs after a burn making this traditional heater much more practical than a modern massless woodstove which loses its warmth within hours.

Because of the thermal mass and multiple flue passes, this heater can burn hot making it a very low emission unit. We have no smoke coming from the stack within minutes of firing it.

“After a long search for a European quality Kachelofen (without the tiles) we found Sidl Masonry Heating. Carl worked with us to plan the best location in our home for the masonry heater - and then he came in and set to work! It was fascinating to watch the heater get built over 7 days and a couple of days later to have the stucco layer added. Since the heater was finished we have had it going - and 2 or 3 fires a day heats our home very comfortably. With the fire on (and for about 8-10 hours on), our furnace has not needed to be on - and that was our goal. Carl is extremely hard working and focused in construction mode, is very tidy (we lived in the space through the construction process) and is a real joy to have in our home. We could not be happier with the masonry heaters Carl built for us. From design to finished product it was a pleasant experience to deal with him. Not sure what we enjoy more – the amazing looks of the finished heaters with the custom built concrete benches or the cozy heat radiating from the structure for hours on end after lighting a fire.
